EuropeanIssuers Welcomes a New Member: Romanian Investor Relations Association – ARIR

EuropeanIssuers, representing the interests of publicly quoted companies across Europe, is pleased to announce that the Romanian Investor Relations Association (ARIR) has joined as a member following the approval of EuropeanIssuers Board of Directors on 1st of December 2020.

EuropeanIssuers Chairman, Mr. Luc Vansteenkiste welcomed ARIR and stated: “We are extremely pleased to welcome ARIR as a new member of EuropeanIssuers. ARIR’s membership is very valuable especially in the post-covid recovery environment. Having ARIR as a member will strengthen our efforts in establishing an adapted regulatory environment and a better access to finance for European corporates.”

ARIR is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that was set-up to provide current and potential issuers a platform for the development of Investor Relations (IR) professionals and contribute to the implementation of best practices in investor communication and corporate governance, represent members’ interest with regulatory bodies, investors’ community and public authorities. ARIR aims to become the main platform for Investor Relations in Romania and a tool for promoting best practices in the field. It was established in November 2018 and currently has 26 members – listed companies, companies with potential to become listed companies, fund managers, IR professionals as well as consultants.

ARIR’s President, Ms. Daniela Șerban noted the value of ARIR’s membership to EuropeanIssuers by stating: “It is a pleasure to rely on the expertise and knowledge of such an important stakeholder in Europe and collaborate on building well-functioning European capital markets and proper calibration of corporate governance requirements for our businesses. By joining EuropeanIssuers, we ensure that the voices of the Romanian listed companies and implicitly IR professionals are heard at the European level and gain their place in the policy discussions since the very first stage.”

According to information presented on the Bucharest Stock Exchange website, dated 2019, Romania represents a capitalisation of ~EUR 38 billion and has 84 companies listed on Bucharest Stock Exchange Main Market and 280 listed on the AERO Market for SMEs. Also, starting September 2020, the global index provider FTSE Russell promoted Romania from Frontier Market to the Secondary Emerging Market status.
