ARIR (the Romanian Investor Relations Association), the promoter of the Investor Relations concept in Romania, in partnership with the National Agency for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, the Human Rights, Equal Opportunities, Cults and Minorities Committee of the Romanian Senate, the Budget, Finance, Banking and Capital Market Committee of the Romanian Senate, and the Labor, Family, and Social Protection Committee of the Romanian Senate, with the support of the Association of Independent Directors, Professional Women’s Network Romania, and ACCA Romania, is organizing on May 6, starting at 9:30 AM, the Structured Debate on the occasion of the launch of the Practical Guide for Gender Balance in the Leadership of Listed Companies, which will take place in the Avram Iancu Hall within the Romanian Senate.

The Practical Guide for Gender Balance in the Leadership of Listed Companies is an ARIR initiative, developed in the context of the entry into force of Law no. 11/2025, including the provisions transposing Directive (EU) 2022/2381, which stipulate that each listed company must set one of the following objectives: at least 40% of non-executive directors must be members of the underrepresented gender, or at least 33% of all directors (executive and non-executive) must be members of the underrepresented gender.

The event will bring together investors, listed companies, board members, policymakers, thought leaders, and governance experts to address the following questions:

  1. What are the main steps companies should take to implement the new legal provisions?
  2. For the long-term implementation of gender balance objectives, what are the main solutions to increase the number of candidates representing both genders?
  3. How can a balance be created and maintained between meritocracy and diversity in corporate leadership structures?
  4. Who are the key stakeholders that can support listed companies in achieving gender balance objectives?
  5. What are the current obstacles that listed companies face in meeting the gender balance objectives set out in the legislation?
  6. Can you share examples of best practices in achieving gender equality on boards of directors?
